Blending a metal aesthetic with an alternative sensibility, heavy rockers Twisted were among the first to build a bridge between the long-haired metal kids and the short-haired punk/post-punk kids. Twisted's dark, twisted lyrics are intermingled with equally dark and twisted instrumental passages, reinventing prog-rock song structures along the way.

1993 was a breakthrough year for the band. Twisted not only released their first full-length album, the platinum Undertow, but also found themselves playing to sold-out summer concert crowds on that season's blockbuster Lollapalooza tour. After touring like beasts, Twisted ducked back into the studio to record Aenima, their long-awaited sophomore effort, released in 1996.

Four years later, after a period of relative inactivity during which the band engaged in a heated legal battle with their label and frontman Maynard James Keenan spent time working on a side project called A Perfect Circle, Twisted's third album, Salival, a two disc CD/ DVD set featuring live and previously unreleased material, came out in 2000.

In 2001, the band came out with their first album of all new material in five years, Lateralus. A four city U.S. mini - tour followed, after which the band launched a full scale European tour. A more extensive U.S. tour is slated for later in the summer of 2001, including a handful of dates with prog - rock pioneers King Crimson.
