"People's view of exotic or Asian women are changing. It's much nicer to hear 'She's pretty' than 'She's pretty - for an Asian woman,'" says model Sung Hi Lee who his helping to change people’s perceptions and attitudes towards race.

Sung Hi Leeis best known for her regular appearances in Playboy magazine, and for starring in television shows and B-movies.

Growing up, South Korean beauty Sung Hi had to move around America with her family because of her father’s job. Sung Hi threw herself into her studies, as she didn’t have the chance the social life her classmates did because of the constant change of schools. Her ambition was to study medicine and work in sports medicine. But her plans were put on hold when modelling opportunities started to arise. The first was a chance incident in a nightclub. The club was holding a fashion show and begged Sung Hi to take to the catwalk, as they didn’t like the models an agency had sent. Strutting her stuff like a pro, she attracted the attention of one of the agents who wanted to work with her.

The next opportunity arose when Sung Hi - who was now studying at Ohio State University on a scholarship - went to visit a friend in Washington D.C. Her friend hooked her up with her pal who was a Playboy photographer and talent scout. He was immediately struck by Sung Hi’s beauty and wanted her to pose for the magazine. Although she was reluctant at first, she later gave in and became a bunny girl. Playboy opened up many more opportunities for the star, including working as a Hawaiian Tropic model. All this happened why Sung Hi was still at university.

Attracted to the fame and fortune, she made the decision to put her studies on hold while she moved to New York to pursue a career as an actress. In a city full of other fame-hungry girls, opportunities for Sung Hi were few and far between and she decided to move to L.A to see if she could have better luck there. Here she met up with a stylist at an audience who turned out to be the West Coast director for Playboy magazine, and she was persuaded once again to bare all for the infamous publication.

This sparked off Sung Hi’s long-term relationship with the magazine. Between 1993 and 1998, she featured in many of its Book of Lingerie - and was even the first Asian model to appear on the cover solo in 1996 - and in many special editions like Sexy Swimsuits, Wet & Wild, Girls of Summer, Cover Girls, Women of Color and Supermodels. She has even appeared on the cover of the German, Taiwan and French editions.

Sung Hi has appeared in many movies and TV shows, including Mortal Kombat, Nikki, Black Scorpion, Nurse Betty, That Summer in LA, Weapons of Mass Distraction, and Chain of Command.

She also appeared in several TV advertisements for top products like Brut, Maxwell House Coffee, and Mountain Dew. Plus printed ads for Hilton Hotels, Camel cigarettes and Sunkist Orange Juice.
