Simon Woods Biography

Simon Woods is an English actor best known for his role as Octavian in Season 2 of the British-American 2005 television series Rome.

He attended Eton College, and then studied English at Magdalen College, Oxford. Whilst at Oxford, from where he graduated in 2002, he directed seven plays, including two sell-out runs at the Oxford Playhouse.

Simon starred in Joe Wright's award-winning television drama Charles II, as the Duke of Marlborough. He has appeared in television drama series' Foyle's War and Cambridge Spies, with Tom Hollander.

Woods filmed Pride & Prejudice with Rosamund Pike an ex-girlfriend. Joe Wright mentioned in an interview how professional both the actors were during filming. Since Pride & Prejudice he has remained in period costume playing Princess Margaret's lover in the forthcoming biopic, and a spy in Elizabeth and Essex, opposite Helen Mirrenand Jeremy Irons

He recently starred as Dr Harrison in the BBC1 costume drama series Cranford, whose arrival in the village "sets female hearts racing."
