Roberto Benigni, Cavaliere di Gran Croce OMRI is an Academy Award-winning Italian actor, writer and director of film, theatre and television. He was born in Manciano, Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy, the son of Isolina, a fabric inspector, and Luigi Benigni, a bricklayer, carpenter, and farmer.
