Richard "Reichen" Lehmkuhl was born on December 26, 1973 in Cincinnati, Ohio to a policeman and a nurse. Reichen is also called "Rick" or "Ricky" by his friends and family. His parents were divorced by the time he was five and his mother raised him and his older brother as a single mom. His mother was eventually married to another man. When he was eight, they moved to Boston to live with his stepfather. He was raised there until the age of eighteen. His family lived a modest lifestyle, having a summer home and a winter home in Maine. At the age of sixteen, he received a nomination from Congressman Barney Frank. With this, he was able to get a spot in the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. While in the academy, he began to explore his sexuality and eventually came out as a gay man to a small circle of friends. He served for five years as an officer in the US Air Force after graduating in 1996. He separated honorably as a captain in 2002. He earned his commercial pilot's license and became a certified flight instructor.
On January 12, 1999, Reichen met Willis "Chip" Arndt at a party. The two eventually became gay lovers. After almost three years relationship, they were married on February 2, 2002 in a ceremony held at the Hotel Bel Air in Los Angeles, California. The married gay couple lived together in Hermosa Beach, California. Reichen once said that his views on relationship are much more liberal than his partner.
Reichen, together with Chip, won the $1 million grand prize in season four of the Emmy-award winning reality TV show, The Amazing Race. He loves to be in great physical shape. He loves skiing and flying. He describes himself as "detail-oriented, caring and thrill-seeking." He speaks English, French, and a little German. He has traveled internationally quite a bit.
On September 23, 2003, he got his first break in acting when he appeared in a guest starring role playing 'Impossibly Handsome Man' in the TV hit show Frasier - No Sex Please, We're Skittish episode.
On September 30, 2003, Reichen and Chip officially announced their break-up to the members of AllAboutRC, and their break-up became an issue on several forums, news, and articles online.
He now works as a commercial pilot and has own a commercial airline called Tribe Airways in Los Angeles. He is seeing Lance Bass
