When you look atQ'orianka Kilcher, it seems she was born to play the part of beautiful Indian Pocahontas, who she brought to life in epic Hollywood movie "The New World".

In the movie star she starred alongside Irish heart-throb Colin Farrell. Their love scenes sparked controversy as she was just 14-years-old when she filmed them. She later admitted that this was the first time she'd kissed anyone.

The role brought Q'orianka many award nominations and she received a Breakthrough Performance Actress award from the National Board of Review.

Q'Orianka, who was born in Germany before moving to Hawaii and then Los Angeles, got her break in the entertainment industry at the age of 10. While she was performing on Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade somebody stole her sound equipment, a LA newspaper reported the story on its front page which led to her receiving new sound equipment plus an offer of an audition for "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". She breezed the audition and was offered the part of a background chorus member.

Since that role, she's appeared on talent show "Star Search", coming in second place in the young singers category.

The singer and actress has a number of upcoming projects, hot on the heels of her 2005 role in "The New World". These include charity work, a range of buckskin clothing, and an album of songs inspired by the movie. The young star - whose beautiful first name means “golden eagle” in Quechua, which is an official language in Peru - recently received a full scholarship to the Hollywood Musician's Institute.

Q'orianka isn't the only famous person in her family. Her cousin is the popular, platinum-selling singer Jeweland her grandfather, Ray "Pirate" Genet, was a legendary mountain climber who died in 1979 returning from the top of Mount Everest.
