Angela Bassett stars in this Showtime original picture as Ruby Delacroix, a beautiful and strong willed African American woman who owns a popular Louisiana night club circa 1960. Unfortunately, she finds herself in a bind when she loses her star performer and hires a white singer named Billy Dupree out of desperation. Ruby finds herself in even more trouble when she and Billy find that they have developed a mutual attraction that is becoming too strong to ignore. Soon, the two are engaged in a passionate affair that could destroy them both, especially deep in 1960s Louisiana where interracial romances rarely went unpunished.
