Born Jonathan Michael Francis O’Keefe on July 27, 1977 in Dublin, Ireland, actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers shot to stardom with villainous roles in larger scale independent films following his auspicious discovery by casting agents in a Cork pool hall. Thrown out of school at age 15, he worked the streets as a young grifter before acting entered his life and surely this rough background has influenced his often steely and intense performances.
