Jamie Lynn Marie Spears was born on April 4th, 1991 In McComb , Mississippi . She was born to the loving parents of Jamie and Lynne Spears. She grew up in the small town of Kentwood , Louisiana (Population 2,200.) with her big brother Bryan (26 now) and big sister Britney (22 now.) Before Britney became a Superstar, money was always tight for the Spears household. On top of the regular bills, food, clothes, and housing, the Spears’ parents were also paying for their children to attend private school at the " Parklane Academy " located in McComb Mississippi . Even though Lynne Spears taught first grade at the highly regarded school it was still very expensive for books and tuition fees. Jamie Lynn's father, Jamie, was a building contractor and worked hard provide everything the family needed. Britney's gymnastic, singing, and dance lessons were a strain on the family budget but they always managed to see it through. Lynne believed in her children's dreams and supported them with more then just money. Jamie’s business wasn’t doing well when the economy was going down in the early 90's making things even harder. Although Jamie Lynn's mother was often late on paying bills they always got paid. The people in the small town knew who they were and knew they were hard working people. They were well liked and because of this people would help them out by letting them pay things late and sometimes donating money to help out.

Lynne and Britney were always leaving town to attend different events in other big cities around Louisiana , such as singing, dance and gymnastic competitions and even a few beauty pageants. Jamie Lynn, her dad, and brother were left behind and anxiously awaited news of Britney’s success. Lynne hated to leave her family and was very often homesick but kept busy with Britney. Lynne tried her best to be there for Britney and to be with her family as much as she could, sometimes taking Jamie Lynn along with them.

When Jamie Lynn was 6 weeks old she and the rest of the Spears family went to New York city for the first time to meet Britney's agent. Jamie Lynn, Britney and their mother ended up staying in New York for awhile while Bryan and her dad went home to Kentwood . There, Britney did an off Broadway play titled "Ruthless". After almost 3 months of doing the show they quit the play and returned home to their small town. For three years they returned to New York during the summer while Britney performed in several excellent shows.

By the time Jamie Lynn was just 6 years old, her big sister Britney had signed a deal for a solo record with Jive records. Upon its release it was very clear Britney would make a big impact on the pop music industry. Of course Jamie Lynn couldn't have been more proud of her sister's accomplishments but it was hard when it was time for Britney to leave home. Jamie Lynn stayed home with Lynne and was a normal kid doing gymnastics with her two best friends Crystal and Leigh. Jamie Lynn would sometimes visit Britney when she was on tour or accompany her to various places or events.

By the time Jamie Lynn turned 9 years old she was becoming more known to the world by being seen with Britney in public and on TV shows such as the “Youtopia Shopping Spree” and “Total Access 24/7” on the Fox family channel. Jamie Lynn not only looked a lot like Britney did when she was that age, but proved she could sing like Britney too. Later that year Jamie Lynn sang a little bit on one of Aaron Carter's Christmas songs and was scheduled to sing with Britney at the Grammy’s, but decided she wasn't ready for that yet.

When she was just 10, Jamie Lynn appeared in her very first TV commercial with her two best friends Crystal and Leigh. They auditioned for the Clorox part together and were chosen because the director liked their chemistry as a threesome. Jamie Lynn also appeared in a video segment when Britney was on the Oprah Winfrey Show. That was the first time the world got to hear of her amazing acapela vocal abilities. Along with her sister, Jamie Lynn's Hollywood acting debut hit the big screens in February 2002, with the premier of the teen hit, “Crossroads”. In it she played the younger version of Britney's character, Lucy. And who better to play the part?

Things really started to fly for Jamie Lynn in the summer of 2002 when she became the 8th cast member of the hit TV series “All That” which airs on Nick. The show is a kids version of Saturday Night Live where Jamie Lynn acted in skits such as “Trashion Fashion”, “Rate the Pain”, and “Thelma Stump”. She and the other “All That” cast members also did “Fear Factor” style stunts (except not as bad) as part of Nick's Saturday night line up. Jamie Lynn did dares such as being in a tub full of 10,000 raw eggs and drinking a gallon of human sweat! Being on the show gave Jamie Lynn national exposure and the opportunity to attend various shows, movie premiers, parties and award shows. Among these were the 2002 Teen Choice Awards, where she and Britney presented an award together.

Then in 2003 “All That” was nominated for Best TV Show at the Nick Kids Choice Awards. Jamie Lynn and the rest of the “All That” cast were excited and happy to be nominated for all their hard work, but in the end they lost out to the "Lizzie McGuire” show.

Capitalizing on her new found celebrity, recent TV exposure, and her desire also develop a singing career Jamie Lynn did a remake of the song "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" with the group Triple Image. The song reached #1 on the Disney top 40 countdown!

Now, at 13 years old, Jamie Lynn has accomplished a lot for a kid. But, she is determined to stay a normal kid and not get too much into the fame thing at such a young age. She wants to make sure she doesn't miss out on being a kid and doing kid things. After all, you are only a child once.
