Lea acerca de Eliska Amor en Espa?ol

Eliska Amor is an American-born actress of Russian and Spanish descent, perhaps best known for her roles in television and film. When discovered by a model agent at 14, Amor rose to prominence in the fashion industry for her somewhat controversial modeling career as an "under-height" fashion model[3][5] before completing the transition to film and television. As the daughter of first generation Russian and Spanish immigrants, her mother, a real estate investor and business owner, and father, a pilot and current aviations engineer. Amor spent her early childhood with little money, living at one stage in a motor-home in her grandparents back-garden and moved into their first home in 1993 when Eliska was five years old. During her childhood, Amor attended a multitude of schools and was partially raised by both her maternal grandmother, a retired dressmaker and paternal grandmother, a retired domestic worker. Throughout 2006 to present, Russian media claimed Amor's mother and her family were connected to Krasnaya Mafiya (an assortment of organized criminals in the Soviet Union known also as the Russian Mafia) suggesting it had forced members of her family to take refuge in the United States. Amor is one of seven children and is part of a blended family following the second marriage of her father after her biological parents' divorce in 2002. She speaks both her father's native Spanish, mother's native Russian and is also fluent in English. Amor finished school with acceptance to Brown University (a member of the Ivy League) as class of 2006 and an offer of representation from Endeavor Talent Agency professionally. Amor deferred her studies to continue acting but plans to return to Brown University in the future with interest in studying Psychology and Philosophy. Amor was discovered by a model agent at age 14 during her regular castings for film and television. Though considered 'under-height' by fashion industry standards at 5 foot 6, she gained successful reception and booked both editorial and commercial campaigns. Amor's introduction to the entertainment industry was at 13-years-old, when the head of her school Art Department pre-arranged a meeting with a theatrical agent after watching Eliska perform in a "fill-in" role for an absent student in a class production. Amor had not voluntarily nominated herself to play the vacant role despite her interest in acting, but was instead chosen by bully classmates with a certain distaste for her, assuming she would "mess-up" and therefore humiliate herself. Amor was invited to join the agency and was cast her first job within two weeks. Her first appearance on television came in 1994 guest starring on ER's pilot episode 24 Hours as patient Ana. While still in school, Amor followed her television debut in 1996 playing Fuller Hansen in an episode of television's American Gothic. In 1997, Amor portrayed young Letta in one episode of popular tween-horror show Goosebumps before playing Sandra Taptin in an episode of Touched By An Angel in 2000. In 2001 Amor landed her first movie role playing Kassidy in TV movie, The Killing Yard. While her increasing school schedule compromised her professional career, Amor continued, playing Kaito in an episode of award-winning television series Smallville in 2002 and as Tatum, a drug abusing teenage student in Boston Public that same year. In 2003, Amor played Lexie in one episode of mother-daughter centered television drama Gilmore Girls. Slowly transitioning to prime-time television, Amor went on to guest star in an episode of emmy-award winning HOUSE and teen drama One Tree Hill in 2004. In 2005, Amor played model Keenya in NCIS episode Model Behavior and followed with a role in one episode of medical comedy Scrubs. That same year, she played Asia in her second TV movie Lies My Mother Told Me alongside actress Joely Richardson. In 2006, Amor played Doran in Live Free or Die and in 2007, she guest-starred in an episode of the family drama Brothers & Sisters and co-starred as Josephine in TV movie To Be Fat Like Me, followed by a small role in The Go-Getter.
