Beverley Mitchell Biography
Lea acerca de Beverley Mitchell en Espa?ol
Beverley Anne Mitchell was born January 22, 1981, in Arcadia, California, and is an only child. Her father David, an auto racing promoter, and mom Sharon, an office manager, have since divorced.
Whether or not she was aware that she had an affinity for acting, destiny would come a knocking at a very young age. When she was only four, a talent manager noticed her having a temper tantrum in a mall, liked her spunk, and approached her about appearing in a commercial. Soon enough, Beverley got her first big break, appearing in a TV campaign for Oscar Mayer.
More commercials soon followed and Mitchell did work for industry giants like Energizer, Disney and Cream of Wheat.
Such work eventually led to TV gigs, and in 1988, Big made her TV debut with a guest appearance on the NBC soap, Days of Our Lives. It wasn't long before she made the leap to primetime; her numerous credits include appearances on Melrose Place, Baywatch, Quantum Leap, and the sitcom, Phenom, starring Judith Light.
Mitchell also appeared in small, independent features such as 1994's Killing Obsession as well as made-for-TV movies such as the 1992 miniseries Sinatra (as young Nancy) and 1995's White Dwarf.
But it was in 1996 that Big's career was launched to new heights. She was cast as the minister's good-girl daughter, Lucy Camden, on the family drama, 7th Heaven, co-starring Jessica Bieland executive produced by Aaron Spelling. The series has gone on to become one of the WB's highest-rated shows, making Mitchell a star in the process.
Things haven't always been cheery for Beverley, however. Shortly after landing the role of Lucy, her parents split up. One year later, she lost a close friend who died in a car accident (the tragedy prompted 7th Heaven's writers to incorporate a similar storyline in the show).
But Big is enjoying her success and life to the fullest.
When she's not working or taking care of her two cats and two dogs, "Bev," as her friends refer to her, enjoys singing, shopping, and spending time with her boyfriend.
Big is currently studying film at Loyola Marymount University and recently began production on 7th Heaven's 7th season.
